Christian School Administrators, Staff, Parents, and Friends,
It is important that Christian schools be aware of actions that will help get the Maryland Education Credit passed this year.
See the posted information regarding the 2015 Legislative Session.
Thanks to all of the Christian school representatives who joined us on Friday, February 6, for the Maryland CAPE meeting! It meant a lot to the MDCAPE coalition who for years has been serving on the front lines for non-public schools in affecting public policy. We are experiencing a very unique time in our state's history as the window of opportunity to pass the education tax credit (known as BOAST) is once again open for debate.
On Friday, February 6, 2015, approximately 25 Christian school administrators attended the winter policy meeting of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE). The meeting agenda included legislative updates from both the state and federal levels. Advocacy initiatives were also explained, including the Maryland Education Credit and what Christian schools can do to facilitate its passage. Detailed information from the meeting will be emailed to schools on the ACSIMD mailing list. Schools can be added to the mailing list using the link on this web site.
While attending the ACSI Board and Administrator's Conference, participants joined together with special scarves to celebrate School Choice Week.
There are several legislative Issues that we are working on as a part of ACSIMD. The top legislative priority is to work as a part of the MDCAPE coalition to expand and improve the BOOST Tuition program. Currently that legislation has some anti-discrimination language that prohibits some of our schools from participating.
The Supreme Court of the United States released a decision in favor of school choice programs that upheld the Arizona tax credit Below are a few articles to review about the decision:
